Etsy is a platform where you can sell handmade items, creative materials, and vintage goods. Essentially, a business owner creates their online store here. Manufacturers have the opportunity to expand into the markets of Canada, the USA, and Europe, as these regions make up the platform's primary audience.
The general terms of use are as follows: the first 40 product listings can be posted for free. After that, a 5% commission applies to both the item’s price and shipping cost.
Ukrainian businesses in the micro, small, and medium-sized sectors that win the competitive selection process will receive:
The project is aimed at micro, small, and medium-sized business owners who produce handmade goods. Those with creative and original productions—such as jewelry, holiday decorations, ceramic tableware, etc.—will have a higher chance of winning.
Preference will be given to businesses that do not yet have an Etsy store or have opened one within the last year. Additionally, new entrepreneurs who just registered their businesses or are planning to do so can participate, provided they complete registration by October 22, 2024.
The program does not apply to industries related to medicine, pharmaceuticals, high fashion, tobacco and alcohol products, the oil and gas industry, weapons, or luxury goods. Business owners should review Etsy’s list of prohibited items before applying.
This initiative is led by the Ukrainian government, particularly the Office for Entrepreneurship and Export Development, and supported by Etsy, USAID’s Competitive Economy of Ukraine program, the TECHBUREAU NGO, and Ukrposhta.
The main goal is to help top representatives of Ukrainian small and medium businesses strengthen their positions, expand, and sell products on the global market.
This is the second initiative supporting microbusinesses in entering global markets. The first took place in October 2023, when Etsy Payments became available for Ukrainian sellers. Over 14,000 Ukrainian entrepreneurs joined the platform at that time.
Logistic company DiFFreight has a warehouse in the USA and experience working with Etsy. They offer fulfillment services, including automatic order processing and warehouse management, helping sellers deliver their Etsy orders efficiently.
